Custom Nets

Custom Nets
Experimental Gill Nets also known as sampling nets are used for research purposes. These specially designed gill nets are comprised of multiple panels with each panel constructed out of a different twine and/or mesh size. These nets can be fished horizontally or vertically, and are principally used by biologists to sample fish populations. We have built thousands of these nets, and if you have a special need please contact us.

Trap/Fyke Nets are stationary nets with either rectangular, square, round, or D-shaped hoops. With the use of wings and leaders, fish are directed into the nets, swim through funnel shaped throats and cannot swim out. Commercial fishermen as well as biologists and researchers use Trap/Fyke Nets. Miller Net Company, Inc. has the strongest rectangular fiberglass hoop on the market. Once you use our state-of-the-art fiberglass hoops, you will never go back to antiquated steel hoops.

Block-Off Nets are single panels of netting with floats on the top and leads on the bottom, and are used to prevent the migration of fish from one area to another. These nets "block" the fish from moving into an unwanted location. Block-off nets are constructed out of many different twine sizes, material types, and mesh sizes. Please furnish your specifications and we will be happy to give you a quote.

Tail Race Nets are used primarily by the hydroelectric industry to study the mortality rate of fish as they travel through spillways below dams. Tail race nets usually have two layers-an inner layer of small mesh knotless nylon netting and an outer layer of knotted nylon netting. The fish travel through the open mouth at one end and are captured in the tail or cod end of the net where they are removed for study.
